As part of GoodGym's Super Saturday day of community missions, 6 runners celebrated Goodgym’s 10th birthday at Surrey Docks Farm.

After a quick briefing we set to work, Fiona and Andre got started on the goat pen, sweeping and making it look lovely for the goats. When the goats were let out, they started playing around, trying to get to the top of the goat tower and pushing each other off! And, of course, making more mess!

Rebecca, Lucy, Katie and Emma were given the much more glamorous job of shovelling some very fresh manure into tonne bags ready to be used in local gardens and back into the farm. We managed to move 7 tonnes of manure in about 1.5hrs. Once we’d filled the tonne bags, we moved on to some smaller bags which are sold for only £2 using a marvellous contraption involving a bucket funnel!

Did you know that a shovel is for scooping and a spade is for digging? When you go to the beach to make sandcastles you’re really talking a bucket and shovel!

Once we had finished our jobs we all got together with the goats for a photo then got some oats to feed the sheep (they have very soft, tickley chins!) and said hello to the baby pigs.
