The weather was dull but the atmosphere was bright. We arrived at the garden to be greeted by an excitable puppy. Minutes later after lots of cuddles Helen and Emily were as excitable as the puppy! :)

Our task owner talked us through the 4 tasks. We were spread out in the garden into 3 main groups with plenty of distance between us all to socially distance.

Sam and Stephanie took on the strong work. Flexing their muscles they managed to move many heavy headstones with the aid of a sack truck.

Jer being the tallest member of the group took on the ivy on the wall. Cutting it back he revealed stunning views of the city.

Cosmo took on the planting work. It is essential to get these trees planting by the end of the March to ensure their health and survival.

Emily, Emily and Helen cleared the area where a tree once stood. We spent hours raking and forking the soil in an attempt to remove all the roots from the infected tree (honey fungus) to ensure it didn't infect new plants. Here we found lots of glass, broken pipes and other discarded items. The team managed to fill a whopping 6 huge garden bags with the debris!

Max helped to clear all the small stones to level the ground and make way for the new position for the headstones.

Amazing work by all, and here is what the task owner had to say;

"Thank you and everyone from Good-gym who helped out at the Quaker Burial Ground yesterday. You all worked so hard and we really appreciate it. I hope that no one is aching too much today. With every best wish, Susan"
