St Mary Walthamstow Churchyard
The churchyard contains numerous interesting graves and four listed tombs, and is divided into four railed and enclosed areas with public access to only two; it is bisected by paths which are in frequent public use. There are some 1300 visible monuments in and around the church, and it is thought that over 26,000 burials took place here. The first church of St Mary Walthamstow was founded in the early-12th century on the site of an older church. The current building is largely 16th-century with later alterations. The timber-framed Ancient House near the church probably stands on the site of the original Manor of Walthamstow.

St Mary's in the village have two houses they need to sell, to raise funds to allow their community work to continue.

To realise these assets, and release the maximum cash from them, they would be chuffed to have our help tidying up the gardens.

They were chuffed with our efforts the first two times! Now they have a shed they need dismantling and filling into a skip.

Make sure to wrap up warm, wear head torches (these really help). Tools will be provided. Thick gloves suitable for grabbing wood even better.. Weather looks a mild 11 degrees.

We'll meet at the venue just before 7 to start at 7ish and finish by 8. Optional jog there can be organised via our Whatsapp group.
