On this hot and sticky Monday evening, 8 (slightly bonkers) Goodgymers rolled up to Whitton Youth Zone to continue working on the garden space in preparation for the upcoming opening of the centre.

This intrepid bunch cycled, ran and walked in the stifling heat and were ready to get stuck in, but not before pausing to congratulate our caped Richmond Hero JP on reaching his 200th good deed (keeping in mind he only got his 100 wings this past April)! Did somebody say lockdown legend?

The evening's mission involved weeding and clearing the raised bed at the back of the centre to make way for a memorial water feature that will be installed at the end of the week. So we donned our gloves, picked up our tools and got down to weeding, digging, sweeping and watering the area. Monika decided to play it cool by turning the garden hose on us as we worked! It was a bit of a shock, but a welcome respite from the heat.

After an hour of gardening and catching up, we called it a day and all headed back to Richmond where we were met by a few others to celebrate JP's impressive milestone on the Yellow (the area formerly known as the Green)!!

All in all a good mission on a hot day with a lovely celebration at the end :)
