Local Legends

With only three days remaining until the end of the January Challenge a group of us decided to go down in history and conquer some local Strava segments.

Some of us ran in circles, some did straight lines with a sudden stop and back to the segment start. There was some uphill and downhill running as well.

You don't magically teleport back to the beginning of a segment when you've finished it!

We discovered Strava's two separate Local Legend rankings ''Overall'' and ''Women''. Curious about the reasons behind two separate rankings some of us approached Strava Support Team in search of answers.

In no particular order:

• Louise is now the Local Legend on ''Eastern Avenue Blast'' in Reading;
• Debs is now the Local Legend on ''Shipton Road Loop passed The Mitre'' in York;
• I became the Local Legend of ''Kingsthorpe loop'' in York;
• Leanne is now the Local Legend on 3 different segments - ''Up Grantham Drive'', ''U Bend -Lindsey Av to Manor Dr N'' and ''Howe Hill Close and & Road'' in York;
• Tom is now the Local Legend on ''Round the castle'' in Ponterfact;
• Michael is now the Local Legend on Up the hill and round the bend'' in York;
• Paul is now the Local Legend on ''Holgate Park Detour''in York;
• Andy is now the Local Legend on ''NTR - Platform 2 - N'' in York;
• Richard conquered not one, but five different segments and is now the Local Legend on ''Whitby Drive'', ''Run to school'', ''From school'', ''Ashley Pk bus stop to Stockton Ln bus stop'' and ''Thru the allotments'' in York;
• Nicola became a Local Legend on 4 different segments - ''Run to school'', ''Whitby Drive'', ''From school'' and ''Thru the allotments'' in York;
• Amy became a Local Legend on ''Watchout for Babs!!!!!'' in York;
• ##UPDATED## after tweaking privacy settings on her Strava account all 9 attempts have been recognised and recorded and Pauline is now an official LL of the ''Penn Lane Hill'' segment in Liverpool;
• Cara became a Local Legend on ''Bank Lane Road'' in Great Broughton.

Way to earn the laurel crown guys!

But, how long can you hold on to it?
