This evening was the last session before Christmas so with a full house, FoodCycle pulled out all the stops for our lovely guests.

Upon arrival, each guest had a goodie bag waiting for them on their chair full of staple essentials to help them out and a few festive treats. As well as this there was Christmas music, decorations and crackers to pull, which led to some unsurprisingly terrible jokes! For example ‘What do you call an Igloo without a toilet?” Read to the end for the answer, if you haven’t guessed already!

On the menu was a seasonal starter of pumpkin soup, a main of stuffed peppers with quorn mince bolognaise and a dessert of macarons! All the guests were full and content, with some leftovers to take away with them as well as a gift to choose from the gift selection which included a range of toys, books, toiletries and chocolates.

It was a really upbeat and positive session with the volunteers and especially the cooking team getting 3 cheers a round of applause from the grateful guests. Pictured here is Sam the area leader for FoodCycle, who regularly steps in to help out at the last minute and in general just goes above and beyond for the group. If you are thinking about volunteering, definitely give it a try! The volunteers are really friendly and welcoming, and seeing what a difference it makes for the guests means its extremely rewarding. Sessions will be back on the 10th January although you might need to look further ahead as the evening slots for the 10th Jan are already full!

Answer: “Ig”.
