One more fabulous Wednesday afternoon team effort packing food parcels at the Oxford Mutual Aid food bank.

This week budget cuts have hit hard for many of the organisations working to combat food poverty, Oxford Mutual Aid included. A combination of price increases from suppliers (quadrupling £ in some cases) and new funding applications being rejected means that supplies are dwindling. We can no longer provide milk or rice as standard in food parcels, toiletries will only be included once a fortnight, and even baked beans are needing to be rationed. It is extremely frustrating to see funding reductions when there is no evidence of diminishing need for food support.
