Tesco are hosting Food Collections in selected stores for Fareshare again in 2020, just in time for Christmas. With 2020 having been everything we have known it for, food donations have never been more important, with a very difficult winter coming up to highlight the inequalities in our society and food poverty which is at even more of an extreme this year.
To keep everyone safe, a few things will be different this year. It will be a solo volunteering job, apart from in the very biggest stores. You will not be approaching customers for obvious reasons, but you will be holding a lollipop stick to point out the menus which customers can take and choose donations from. You will not be wearing a Fareshare tabard nor will you be handling donations. However, you will still be greeting from a distance and smiling a welcome, under your mask at least.
You can sign up for a 3 hour shift at the Central Birmingham by clicking the link https://fareshare.org.uk/foodcollection/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Tesco+Food+Collection&utm_campaign=Tesco+Food+Collection+to+previous+volunteers and selecting the Birmingham Cax Metro shop to find available slots. Hurry though, with only one volunteer per shift, they will go quickly.
How are you getting there?
