So it was time for another shift at the Birmingham Central Foodbank and I hoped that we would see more people this week after the previous Friday was very quiet. Again, I was doing my door duties which involve greeting clients and making sure we didn't have too many people in the reception area at a time due to the current social distancing measures in place. The morning started off very busy with a steady stream of people coming through the door, all leaving happy. What I really love about doing this is seeing that people are genuinely thankful for the help they receive and its testament to the great job the volunteers at the foodbank do. We then had a number of visits from the 'Ladywood Helpers Team'. These guys are doing a fantastic job of collecting food parcels and delivering them to people that can't get out to collect food. They are also collecting food to take to a new hub that has been set-up in the local area that will be used for people who are out delivering the food packages. With so much activity the shift was over in no time and after a quick debrief it was time to finish.
