Three GG helpers joined forces with Emma and Tim at New Malden Guides HQ to make further progress towards creating a wildlife garden. Their gardener had been inspired by our previous efforts to clear the undergrowth and chopped even more back. This meant we had a large area of ivy and self seeded assorted plants to clear away with the intention of getting back to bare soil to begin the garden redesign. Tom, Claire and Jassy were busy raking, forking, lopping and pulling up vegetation to create some waste piles and woodpiles. Emma and Tim took the opportunity to deal with taking out obstructive tree branches to form yet more impressive waste piles. The gardener will have his hands and vehicle full to dispose of these piles on his next visit! Despite an impressive effort, more clearing is needed, so we look forward to returning soon.
