GoodGym-doo! Mystery, Inc.

Yesterday afternoon 10 hardy GoodGym runners safely met to do an essential gardening task for Parkview estate.

After being briefed in our masks by Catherine and Liam, we split into 2 groups of 6 and 4. 6 runners went off to tackle the larger plot of greenspace, and 4 went to the other side of the estate to cover a smaller area.

Closer to the main road at the front of the estate, TaskForce co-leader Alex led the gang to plant daffodils there.

Julia and Alex paired together and got straight to work planting the hundreds of bulbs we were given in buckets on the west side of the green area.

The Shirleys were optimistic (and ultimately successful!) with planting a larger arc of daffodils, staying longer than the allocated 1.5 hours to make sure the task was done. Everyone needs a Shirley in their lives.

The biggest mystery of the task (and the reason for our Scooby-doo themed pun) came from Sree and Ivy, as after their planting session, Sree came out covered in head-to-toe with mud whereas Ivy, who was working directly next to her for 1.5 hours came out having not a single spot on her. We'll leave Shaggy to work out the answer to that one.

Over in the smaller area, Boris and I got to work planting a teardrop shape of daffodils. It's safe to say Boris did most of the leg work here as I am a terrible digger. We also had the job of turning over the soil and recovering an area of grass that had recently been run over and damaged by a bin lorry. By planting the flowers there, we hoped this would deter the binmen from running over the plot again!

We also got talking to a local older resident who kindly thanked us for our hard work in making his home a better place to live, which gave us the determination to persevere despite the onpour.

Stephenand Ceiling (who celebrated her 100th good deed last week!) worked together on the other plot of greenery. When the rain got torrential, Ceiling showed her determination and work ethic by being the only runner to stay out in the rain and carry on digging, whilst the rest of us ran for cover.
