Mission

Tree-mendous

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.

It was the last Saturday before Christmas, and two Goodgymers met to lend Mrs N a hand in her garden. She would like to enjoy it more often, but due to an abundance of plane trees nearby, it had been filling up with leaves. Emma and Hilary set to work sweeping and bagging them up, one area in particular proving to be a challenge because a creeping plant from a neighbouring garden had crept in quite effectively to weave a more stubborn mass. Mrs N had given us a small scythe to use and we initially wondered how this would be helpful, but it turned out to be just the thing for disentangling the creeper from the mud and wet leaves. Approximately 12 bags and a very enjoyable chat later, the back garden was looking much clearer and we were off on our way.
