Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.

Once again following the festive period The Kirkwood (formerly Kirkwood Hospice) will be collecting and recycling Christmas trees to raise all important funds and avoid the need for redundant trees to be dumped in landfill.

Like many similar organisations Kirkwood's fundraising has been hit hard this year, and as such they are determined to make this tree collection the biggest and most successful yet. Consequently I have been assured that there will be plenty of work for GoodGymmers this time and we will not be stood down without doing any collections as happened last January.

The other great thing about this task is that you get a choice of what you wish to do. The Kirkwood require GoodGymmers to do any of the following tasks:

Van driver – driving a van, accompanied by a drivers mate, to go on the routes to collect the Christmas trees. This option is open to drivers with or without their own vans.

Driver’s mates – accompany the van driver out on route, assisting with navigation, getting out of the van to grab and load the trees

Drop point assistants – monitor one of official designated drop points, assisting the drivers and mates when they arrive to unload the trees, move and bag up chippings

Please be aware that any GoodGymmers who wish to be part of this fantastic Community Mission must be available at either 6pm or 8pm on Friday 8th January for a compulsory briefing and to receive their specific tasks and collection routes. These briefings are listed as a separate Community Mission so please ensure you sign up for one of those if you are signing up for the Christmas Tree Collection task.

For the purposes of Kirkwood's administration please ensure you have signed up for this task and submitted Kirkwood's online registration form by 5pm on Monday December 14th. The registration form can be found here.
