Sarah and I arrived on time greeted by a staff member from Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing. Mr C welcomed us warmly into his home. We had to wait 5 minutes for our gardening tools to arrive but in the interim, Mr C serenaded us with with songs on his guitar - he was genuinely fantastic!

The tools arrived and our task could begin. Bags of manure had been delivered earlier that day. Our task was to dig up some of the hard soil in the garden, loosen it up and mix in the manure ready for planting vegetables.

It took about 35 minutes to do a 1 metre by 2 metre stretch of soil, plenty of space for Mr C to start growing vegetables in the newly enriched soil. Mr C even chipped in with the effort, filling 5 pots with the mixture and planting broad beans in each of them.

We cleaned the muck off the garden path, wiped off our shoes and ran back to our day jobs!
