Islington

Mission

How many men does it take to change a lightbulb? None! Just one GoodGym woman!

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.

‘I was expecting a man’ was the greeting I received by Ms E on my arrival! The fluorescent light in her kitchen has been out for months, meaning it was impossible for her to cook in the kitchen in the evening. In less than the time it takes to say ‘it’s International Women’s Day on Monday!’ I had jumped up on the stepladder, whipped out the offending dodgy old tube and popped to the shop to get a replacement. Unfortunately I arrived at DIY shop man’s lunchtime so had to wait outside in the cold for 20 minutes for him to reopen! Luckily he had a replacement so I quickly went back and replaced it, checked it worked and headed off. Ms E was extremely grateful for the help as she had been trying to get someone to replace it for a while, and maybe next time she won’t be so surprised to see a woman doing a practical task! 😃
