This is an event run by Rotary Chelmsford Mildmay so please enter here: https://baddowraces.co.uk/

It is for charity and I am sure you recognise these causes:

THE PROCEEDS OF THE ENTRY FEES TOGETHER WITH ANY DONATIONS GO TOWARDS OUR CHOSEN CHARITIES. Each year select organisations that are local and don’t have large reserves. We also encourage runners to run for their own favourite good cause. We just ask you to let us know who they are and how much you have raised.

Amongst our helpers are many local groups that we support like Scouts, Sea Cadets and many others who will receive donations from us.

In 2020 our charities are:

CITY OF CHELMSFORD MENCAP WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1951 AND PROVIDES SOCIAL CLUBS, SHORT BREAK SCHEMES AND LIFELONG LEARNING. OUR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ARE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY, PERSON-CENTRED SUPPORT FOR MEMBERS AND THEIR CARERS. About City of Chelmsford Mencap

City of Chelmsford Mencap is your local, independent charity for children and adults with a learning disability. We provide social clubs and respite schemes for people of all ages as well as information and support services for members and their families and carers.

We rely on grants and donations to fund our services and the commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers who socialise with and support our members.

Young people’s services

Our weekly youth club, Gateway Juniors, is for young people aged 16 to 25. It offers sports and dance workshops for the energetic and arts and crafts, puzzles and quizzes for those who prefer a quiet evening with friends.

Services for adults

The Outreach Academy provides lifelong learning to people aged 19+. It helps students to develop their social, work and life skills in a supported environment that enables them to reach their potential. Sessions run every weekday and include Active in the community and environment (ACE), Cooking, Dance, Functional skills, Social enterprise and Yoga.

The Gateway Club meets weekly and members enjoy a variety of activities, including dance and fitness workshops, music and art sessions and evenings exploring cultures from around the world.

City of Chelmsford Mencap also supports its members to access community amenities and events.

CARERS FIRST (ESSEX) Carers First works directly with and for carers to provide personalised information and advice. Making it easier for those caring for someone else to continue living their lives to the fullest.

Carers First was established in Tonbridge in 1991, by carers who wanted to help others in a similar situation. Today, Carers First works with thousands of unpaid carers, providing practical information and support; making it easier for them to continue living their lives to the fullest.

We also actively work with other organisations to offer direct support to carers and to provide an opportunity for carers to help shape national conversations and influence policy change.
