Lister Steps is a community based charity caring for children from 6 weeks to 14 years of age through nursery, playgroup, breakfast and after school clubs and school holiday schemes. In 2016, they were awarded £3.95 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore & re-purpose the Grade 11 listed Lister Drive Library. Construction work began in April 2019 and the regenerated building, which is due to be completed in the summer of this year, will enable them to relocate their existing childcare & family support services and provide an extended range of opportunities for the community. The Old Library will bring people together to learn new skills, volunteer, socialise & make new friends, study, develop enterprise and celebrate & party.
AS PART OF THE GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN LISTER STEPS ALONG WITH OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN THE NEWSHAM PARK/TUEBROOK AREA ARE ORGANISING A LITTER PICK. THE HOPE IS TO GET THE COMMUNITY OUT TO REALLY HELP CLEAN UP AN AREA BLIGHTED BY RUBBISH AND TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER, WITH THE HELP OF GOOD GYM.
PLEASE NOTE WE WILL BE MEETING AT THE OUTDOOR KIOSK IN NEWSHAM PARK, L6, NEAR TO THE CORNER OF ORPHAN DRIVE AND LISTER DRIVE. PLEASE BRING GLOVES. ALL OTHER EQUIPMENT WILL BE PROVIDED. IF YOU NEED ANY HELP WITH DIRECTIONS THEN PLEASE ASK MATTHEW. THERE IS A REALLY GOOD BUS SERVICE FROM THE CITY CENTRE AND AMPLE PARKING IN NEWSHAM PARK.

There's space to change and leave bags and toilets. We're not planning to do anything purposefully dangerous, but GoodGym takes no responsibility for your safety during group runs, you participate at your own risk. Participants accept full responsibility for items stored at the Hope Street Hotel, and the Hope Street Hotel and GoodGym will not be held liable for any losses or damages.
Come to the hotel entrance. Ask reception where to meet us if you can't see anyone in a red t-shirt.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, community missions will focus on supporting the organisations that provide essential support to services, including the health and care systems and foodbanks.
We will only be doing community missions that are vital and absolutely necessary during this period to ensure we are not risking unnecessary spread of infection.
For this reason this community mission has been cancelled, we hope we'll be able to support this task in future.
