Entering the park today, through the mist, presented a wonderful picture to start the day. 399 people felt the same as they made their way around this 5K course. I was Tailwalker so just about saw everyone ahead through that pesky mist which didn’t clear until I was walking home T 10.45! Goodgymers running today, Kathryn, Susanna, Roisin, Alina & Robert O.

348 people arrived on a chilly morning & my coat made its first appearance! I was the only Goodgymer volunteering today 🥲 but you’re never alone at Parkrun, as with Goodgym we’re a friendly, non intrusive lot so I wasn’t lonely for long. Timekeeper again today, getting to see everyone finish & able to say well done to each and every person (& dog). Running Goodgymers today were Rob R, Kathryn, Roisin and Susanna. I then dashed home to get to my doctors for my Flu and Covid 2jabs.

Catton Parkrun #505 was like every parkrun today a Macmillan Takeover with many wearing Macmillan t shirts or green. 328 run/walk/jog their way around this beautiful course, including Barry who last week became ill, he had a pacemaker fitted wednesday & walked the course this morning, welcome back so good to see you. Robert O was the solo Goodgymer running today. I was Timekeeper & Roisin & Bobby marshalled together at Church Street with their important Lap 1 & Lap 2 signs. At the finish many attended the scrummy cake stall for Macmillan

359 people finished today but one regular runner didn’t make to the finish funnel as on the second lap he felt unwell and dropped to the grass, immediately the Parkwalker volunteer was just behind him & stopped to assist. Immediately she rang the Event Director who sprinted to the far end of the course with an off duty paramedic who’d just finished his parkrun. Despite the runner wanting to continue it was agreed as a precaution to take him to hospital. As tailwalker we were able to continue leaving the scene under control to report back to the acting ED . Thank goodness we don’t have too many incidents like this but it’s proof that when the unexpected happens Catton Parkrun can react swiftly starting with Volunteers & other wonderful runners looking out for each other NB he was taken to hospital for test & all is ok
