What a fantastic morning!
We were part of a huge team helping to transform the school's massive play areas and open spaces.
Our contact Adele had one particular task in mind for us - moving some massive cable reels downhill to create a new playspace in a wooded area. Tom, Robert and our brand new member Andrew took care of the rolling while Rachel and Leah made sure the littlest GoodGymers were occupied and out of the way while tidying the remaining materials.
Next, we took some rubbish down to the bins (including tents!) and joined in with digging the sandpit, moving some very heavy metal picnic benches across the field, and shifting tyres and wheelbarrows full of the excavated soil up to yet another play area.
Definitely a firm favourite task for us all!

9 GoodGymers headed back to the Meadows Foodbank in Nottingham last night to help with a variety of tasks. It’s always a pleasure to visit this project and, as usual, we were warmly welcomed by Mark who set us to work with a shopping list of food to bring down from the upstairs storeroom to the shelves downstairs.
Meanwhile, some of us swept and mopped the floors and helped crush some cardboard for recycling.
After an hour’s work we stopped to enjoy a little cake courtesy of Leah whose birthday it was – what better way to celebrate that with a GoodGym community mission (and sorry we forgot to sing Happy Birthday at the end!!).
We were joined by Harriet, Alex and Juan on their first GoodGym session – we hope you enjoyed it and we will see you again soon!

A motley crew of GoodGymers headed over to the Sneinton Primary School allotment for another morning of renovations.
Most of the team headed up to the top of the plot where we've previously cleared bushes and bricks and created a dead hedge by weaving bamboo sticks Kathryn had brought along. We then moved loads of dead branches and brambles over to make the "hedge" itself. Hopefully the frogs we saw hopping around will move in over the next few days. Kathryn explained the benefit of this kind of boundary lies in the fact that you've always got somewhere to put trimmings as it slowly rots away, and that it creates a habitat for wildlife.
While this was going on, Rachel weeded some of the children's flowerbeds and Tom pulled out some very deeply rooted brambles. Oliver did some strimming and Natalie got heartily stuck in to moving bricks around to create some borders around the fruit trees.
Some of the team even decided to stay on a bit past 12 to finish the job!
Thanks again to all who came, as Kathryn said, "you guys are legends"! Apologies that I forgot to grab the group pic from Kathryn, I'll upload it once I get it!

No, not that Forest! Forest Rec!
Three GoodGymers met up with Emily from the Clean Champions to pick up litter around the edge of the park.
Tom came away with 'Weirdest Item' in the form of a curtain (we think), although Rachel and Leah's bits of a dog food box were a close second. Leah also narrowly avoided binning a very, err, well-used kid's ball, but thankfully called out to find its owner before it made its way into a bag.
We'll be back in a couple of weeks for a Great British Spring Clean special, so sign up now!
