Four of us went along on a sunny Saturday to help Treemendous check on the saplings up at Kimberlow Hill.
This involved taking a peek inside each tree guard to see whether its occupant was still alive, then pulling out any weeds, replacing the guard and straightening the stake if necessary. It turns out that tree guards make ideal vertical ant nests - so quite a few of our trees were sharing their living quarters with these high-rise apartm-ants! However, the trees took priority, meaning we had to knock down the nests to make sure the growing tree trunks weren't smothered.

7 goodgymers came out in the sunshine to do a spot of litter picking.
We got armed with bags and pickers and split into team Holgate park and Acomb Road. After 45 minutes we collected quite a haul including a pair of pants and a trainer!
It was Vicky's 400th good deed so she celebrated with Barbara by doing some hill reps whilst the others enjoyed a bit of sun.
We then headed to a local cafe for lunch and said our goodbyes just before the rain.

14 brilliant GoodGymmers, accompanied by a brilliant dog and child, took on our annual task of running the mile 3 water station for the Yorkshire marathon and 10 mile race.
It’s always a lovely day and this was no exception. The sun was shining, though the temperature was a tad chilly.
We gathered bright and early and started unscrewing the lids of MANY bottles of water. Some people had special (mostly gardening) gloves, whilst others were lucky enough to use a special tool (until it got broken...) Either way, many bottles were opened, and blisters gained in the process.
It was soon time for the race to commence so we looked keenly for the first participant, with various people vying to be the one to give out the first bottle.
With a blurry flurry of runners, that was the marathon done. It was then time to get ready for the 10- mile race. Time for more bottle cap- unscrewing (and more blisters) before the next team ran through.
We were thrilled to spot some GGs in both the marathon and 10-mile races and gave them some extra-loud cheers (along with cheering everyone else of course).
A similar battle ensued as to who could give the last bottle out and with that accomplished, it was time to pack up and head to the Govers' for some much-needed warmth, tea and cake.
Thank you everyone, and a huge well done to all the runners too - what a bunch of heroes!

Paul Cawood done a 6 month mission streak.
Paul just completed a six month streak of doing missions. That’s so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give Paul a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.

With weather looking fair 9 GGers arrived in plenty of time to set up , grab a coffee and catch up before the 4000 or so runners were due to pass through our beautiful city and the first of the water stations on the popular York 10k.
With the first steady stream of speedy runners racing through it soon became a rush of people with all of us just about managing to ensure that no-one had to slow down as they collected their water whilst we shouted encouragement.
Eventually everyone had passed through and the well oiled machine soon had it looking as though nothing had ever happened.
