Where it all started.........

Bexley Report written by Tim Dickson

It was a trip down memory lane this evening. 10 Bexley Goodgymers signed in to take part in this special run that returned us to Bexley Mencap This was the very first run and good deed that started Goodgym Bexley off nearly one year ago. As always we were greeted at Crooklog by the gang from Bexley Mencap who use the sports centre every Monday. After having a start photo with us they headed off in front to open the office so it was all ready for our arrival. We started off with our warmup which included some sprints to really get the heart rates up before heading out towards our good deed location. We had Susan looking after the front runners, with me back marking. If you are wanting to join us at Goodgym Bexley but worried about being left behind, don't be. No one is ever left behind on our runs, we're a team, and always start and finish together........... On arrival it was straight to work. Our team split into their new job roles for the evening. We had sweepers, window cleaners, litter pickers, tidy upers, weed pullers, and with the awesome help from some members of Bexley Mencap if was all running smoothly and quickly. Wow, what a difference many hands can make!!

It didn't take to long, well around 35 minutes to total make the side garden area look totally brand new. As we all stepped back and checked out our hard work, it was time for some 'Hi Fives', a quick tidy up of all the tools, and a last good bye as we headed in our different directions.

Feeling satisfied we headed back to Crooklog via a slightly longer route to put some training in. Some how our trip back always takes us through a railway crossing tunnel where its compulsory for us to do our sit off challenge. Well it would be very rude not to ;-) With now wobbly legs it was the last stretch back to basecamp to complete our evening. With everyone reporting in safe and sound we always finish off with a chat about who's doing what over the week, what we've achieved over the past week, and any questions on training or niggly injuries the group may be able to help with. Before signing off for another week i just want to give a massive welcome to Debbie for completing her first goodgym run. I really hoped you enjoyed it. And then last but not least, a big thanks to all the regular crew. You know you are awesome!!! Until next week Goodgymers.............
