Group one – Oasis Nature Garden . 3 miles. Report by Alex…. (Who never fails to be disappoint)

13 GG'ers ran 3 miles to move a shed, prune and play safe.

13 GG'ers tootled off to the Oasis Nature Reserve where we promptly set about collecting a dismantled shed, which involved passing it over neighbours garden fences before it was carried back to Oasis to be assembled at a later date.

Once back we split into three groups:

  • Group one, aka "Prune it while it's hot" set about pruning along the back fence.
  • Group two, aka "Gangster 'play' zone" dug out the old wood chip surrounding the children's play area ready to be replenished. (So the children don't get hurt when flinging them selves off the tree house)
  • Group three, aka "Gin & 'smelly' Juice" emptied out an overflow bucket into smaller buckets, saved a frog (aka OG Frog) and then filled the overflow bucket with pebbles.

Group two – Coldharbour NightMarket – Report by Sion

Last night I continued my Goodgym tour of London with a visit to Lambeth where I was hoping for a big audience to listen to me bang on about my research project (sorry- shameless plug!) I'd heard stories about huge runs and so many runners that one task was never enough, so my expectations were pretty high. Needless to say when I arrived I wasn't disappointed- in fact there were far too many of you to harass everyone individually!
After the briefing our group headed off to carry on preparations for the coming night market and even though it was only round the corner, navigating through the crowds of South London required a good deal of concentration (for me anyway!). Fortunately we arrived in one piece and without taking out any toddlers on the way. We set to work clearing the area; lugging wood around, pulling up nettles and removing unwanted trees. Because it didn't take long to get there we got really stuck in and managed to get loads done- there was even time for everyone to benefit from a few killer sprints and rounds of jump squats! As we headed back to base the light was fading, the crowds had thinned and I had a chance to reflect on my London adventure. It seems to me that Goodgym just attracts good people and that wherever you go, even in the cut and thrust of the big city, you'll always be welcome at Goodgym. Thanks so much guys, it was a pleasure to meet you all and bring on the expansion! Oh, and come check out Bristol!
