A lovely calm evening. Until 18.45 that is when a ferocious wind came out of nowhere. Following a quick sign in and briefing in which we welcomed first timers to GoodGym Darius, Kaylee and Emilie (great to see Laura back as well!) we split into three groups, led by Simon, Caroline and Patrick and set off to Whittington Park Community Association with the wind in our faces.

Our job was to clean windows in the centre's One O'Clock Club for toddlers. This has recently been refurbished and we've been helping with the finishing touches such as a couple of weeks ago when we tidied up their garden. Apparently the best way to clean windows these days is not with dusters, but with copies of The Islington Gazette. With 28 of us at it we zoomed through so we also cleaned their shutters and their cupboards, as well as wiping down everything we could manage. Rich even got the hoover out. We entertained ourselves with George Formby while we worked. That is the first and last time we will play George Formby on a GG run. Anybody who ignores this rule will go on "The List".

We were so fast at work we had ten minutes to spare before Martin came back to lock up. So, to stay warm (ignoring the fact that we were already inside with the heating on) we got out on to the grass and alternated easy and hard exercises. We did lunges, hip rotations, mini-squats (now know as "The Policeman" - thanks John), one-legged-policemans, arm swings and other bits and pieces. It was all going great until Graham suggested burpees. Burpees are not popular at the best of times, but when you suggest doing them on muddy grass you're in trouble, as Graham found out (Frances later pointed out that Graham has now taken Caroline's place on "The List". Caroline's been on "The List" so long we've forgotten what she was on there for. If you want to be on "The List" just send me an abusive email and we'll consider your application). Graham did come up with the pun report title though, so maybe we can forgive him

Thoroughly warmed-up it was back inside for a group shot then back into three groups for a journey back, which for some bizarre reason involved running into the wind again. Did anybody have the wind behind them at all last night? The fast group worked pretty hard with not only some speedy running but an exhausting circuit at Emirates that included uphill running, fast downhill running and climbing up and down obstacles.

Back at the centre we had a vote about our favourite operating system (cos of the Windows, get it?). Most people opted for Windows or Android. Mac got a few votes but most said they were too expenisive. Poor old Unix only got one vote.

See you next week for a brand new task. We're going to Thornhill Square to mulch it up. See you there,

Simon

P.S. Don't forget drinks on Thursday and Re:generation festival on Saturday

P.P.S Oh, go on then
