27 beautiful GoodGymers ran 7km to help Tombion Community Centre!

On a rather mild November evening 27 wonderful GoodGymers met at Highbury Pool to continue to make Islington a better place. Simon was away this week and resting for being top 3 on the Heroes Distance Leaderboard, so Paul Bown was in charge - what could go wrong?!

Well with the support of the amazing taskforce everything went swimmingly (Patrick, Caroline and Steve). After initiating the debate of what would you prefer to be given a Cornetto or a Mr. Whippy?! This trifling debate has been rushing through the GoodGymer ranks of late, led by Tom Benson and his enthusiastic followers.

With the head count done and the debate started we split into two groups, with one led by Patrick & Steve doing a nice lap of Highbury Fields before heading south and another heading straight to the task led by Caroline and Paul.

With a well planned quiet route everyone avoided the busyness of Upper Street we ran along cycle paths and down back streets like we were innovators of running! Upon arrival at the task we met the pair of painters at the centre, they explained the task at hand and we proceeded to continue sand wood like no tomorrow.

The group was again split in two, one following Paul to do some fun core exercises and the other led by Steve to sand the window panels, skirting boards and basin boards. The GoodGymer Islington master Steve Coman taught his group to rub with the grain while Paul made his groups abs as tough as nails. After 11 minutes we switched around, with Patrick leading a circle of circuits including star jumps, burpees, shoulder taps and planks.

Steve Coman - Rub with the grain!

On our return from Tompion Community Centre to Highbury Pool we split into three groups depending upon distance and all arrived back at the same time - great work everyone!

With all three groups back on time we stretched out, said well done to each other for the good we'd done to help the community and discussed our debate findings. We lots of different views on ice cream it seemed 70-30 in the Cornetto's f(l)avour - difficult to argue with that.

Next week Simon is back and it's gonna be as good as ever
